Which wind chimes are the loudest?

If you’re going to the true “wow factor”, our loudest and most impressive chime is from Woodstock Chimes. The Chime of King David measures 2.24 metres in total length and offers deep, resonant tones that will reverberate throughout your landscape. That said, the Woodstock range is varied, with sounds ranging from light and delicate to deep and resonant.

Which is the best material for wind chimes?

It all depends on the sound and aesthetics you’re looking for. The material is a key factor in dictating the type of sound a wind chime makes – and what is considered “the best”, of course, is completely subjective.

How material impacts sound
Those who prefer deeper, soothing and earthy tones might opt for bamboo chimes. Those who prefer a light tinkle tend to prefer Koshi, Zaphir or Japanese Wind Bells. And those who love the traditional style of western wind chimes may go for a Woodstock option.

The right material for your location
It’s also important to consider the placement of your chime. If you plan on hanging it outside directly exposed to the elements, the aluminium of the Woodstock Chimes is probably the most weather-resistant material. It offers a lovely sound and, paired with its timber components, makes for a solid weather-resistant chime.

However, it’s usually recommended to place your chimes in at least a semi-protected area away from the harsher elements to make sure they last for many years to come.

What is the best string or wire to hang a wind chime?

It’s crucial to hang your wind chime securely using a cord that will endure the elements (if hung outside), without impacting the sound quality of the chime. We recommend black, UV-resistant nylon cord of the correct gauge and thickness for your chimes as this will resist the effect of the sun and securely support your chimes.

How do I care for my wind chimes?
